So today is the big day
In other news we here at PSPonMac would like to invite you all to keep the emails pouring in and let us know of tips as well.
Thanks in advance,
(some of the staff here are sitting under palm trees with no internet connection *clears throat* at this moment, my hate is internal)

An open letter to Sony
Dear Sony,
We appreciate and understand that you, being a multinational corporation which churns out a slew of products so vast that it would be pointless to assume that the PSP should be your sole focus... i.e. we get that, not an issue.
We also get that in you've invested considerably in your latest fumbling release of the PS3, which of course we here at psponmac will purchase and it will look great alongside our xbox 360s... when the damn thing comes out in Europe 3+ months from now....
We respect that you integrated our favorite little handheld entertainment center into your newly launched PS3. *thumbs up* (which, of course, though the staff here has blue passports we still haven't seen because.. well... you relieved yourself on Europe, again. Sorry we are rather bitter about this.)
*clears throat*
What we don't get is why you didn't listen to us a long time ago when we suggested that you hire the devhook proverbial rock-in-your-big-ass-shoes. Quite frankly, it's beginning to irritate us that you continue to release updates that takes devhook mere hours to "open source" if you will.
We decided to simply write you this letter to try and help YOU out. We own 'nary a share and Howard Stringer has yet to email, call, fax, send smoke signals or otherwise acknowledge our existence (which we find strange because out life-sized Steve Jobs poster -- which is placed as the centerpiece of our iShrine-- speaks to us all the time). Our simple suggestion is that you accept your L and begin to welcome the quite small community of people, geeks and well trained dolphins who have been able to create a community/market/think tank around the PSP. In other words please quit trying to fight a losing battle and you just might learn something.
Feel free to contact us and offer us consultation money and/or a few HDTVs and I hope the sprawlingness of this passionate plea doesn't confuse you.
Sincerely,
HDTV and PS3-less P.O.M. (POM doesn't sound very good but you get the point, right?)

Firmware 3.00 Released & Manual Online...
Update: Firmware 3.0 can now be downloaded via Network Update, or directly below.
Download: System Update 3.00
So finally theres an update with something other than security fix. Some might even be just a little tempted to update. Just keep in mind once you update there is no turning back to 1.5 as of yet.QJ says:
- source: qj"Remote Play - Remote play is a new feature in Firmware 3.00 that allows you to remotely control your PlayStation 3 from your PSP. This also includes the display of PS3 content on the PSP. “You can display a PLAYSTATION®3 system screen on a PSP™ system and play content that is on the PS3™ system. To use this feature, you must adjust the necessary settings on the PSP™ system and the PS3™ system.” Using this new mode of playback, one can control the Photo, Music, Video, and internet browser features of the PlayStation 3 from a remote location via their Playstation Portable.
Video Compatibility - In this updated version of the Playstation Portable firmware, you are also able to play a few new video formats. The Motion JPEG format (M-JPEG), is an “informal name for multimedia formats where each video frame or interlaced field of a digital video sequence is separately compressed as a JPEG image” (Wikipedia). The PlayStation Portable plays both the Linear PCM and the μ-Law versions of the Motion JPEG video format. In addition, you will now be able to access the Camera (functionality) from the photo option menus, for quicker easier access when taking photos or video. Another nifty function is the ability to finally turn off Auto Play for inserted UMD Discs via UMD Auto Boot. (Thanks zerojay)
PlayStation Games - Here’s the big tip you’ve been waiting for. Finally, Sony is going to drop their highly anticipated PlayStation One emulator onto the PSP. From the manual however, there seems to be a unavoidable catch. If you don’t have a PS3, your not going to be enjoying PlayStation One games emulating on Sony’s PlayStation One emulator for PSP anytime soon. From the manual it states that you must connect to the Playstation Online store with your PSP connected to the PlayStation 3 in order to download and play the games. In addition, they mention that you can in fact share the games, but you must activate the other system in the Friends menu as a PS3 Network Account".

MyTunesRSS 2.3.5
MyTunesRSS is 100% pure Java, i.e. it runs on any system with Java 1.5 and up. You start MyTunesRSS which includes an embedded Tomcat server. On this server you can access a web application with any browser which lets you search your iTunes library by title and/or artists. Then you can create an RSS feed or an M3U playlist from the results.
Any device capable of receiving RSS feeds or M3U playlists can get the songs from your iTunes library through the feed. For example the Playstation Portable can play songs from your iTunes library over WLAN with this application. What´s new:

CWCheat for Mac OS X *Update*
Read me:
"Simply put, CWCheat for Mac OS X is a database editor for the popular 'Cheat Device' for PSP, known as CWCheat created by weltall. It allows you to easily and effectively modify and manage your cheat database. With a rapidly growing cheat database, it's very easy to get lost in it, especially when trying to find what you are looking for with a regular text editor. This is where this database front end comes in handy. You can add, remove, or modify your cheats, all at the press of a button".
