Devhook updated to v0.45! Launching Homebrew on Emulated 2.71 Now Possible!

And yes another great release from booster!!! this guy is just amazing

It apparently supports homebrew launching right on 2.71 firmware. Couple it with harleyg's custom firmware mod which allows you to directly load DevHook on startup, and you're practically in PSP heaven.

Here's a detailed changelog:

* Support for loading EBOOT.PBP on memory stick and EBOOT.BIN on UMD(ISO) in ELF format.
* Fixed problems that made 1.50 NoUMD not functioning.
* Added more exclusive controls added to flash emulation. As well as other memory stick breaking countermeasures.
* Memory map changed for rebooting

To-Do

* FW2.71 registry initialization failure problem.
* Stabilize flash emulation (file access).
* NoUMD for FW 2.xx
* NAND driver level emulation

PMP on MAC

For those without the Intel based Macs who want to stream PMP movies, here's what you will need to get your movies in PMP format .

- FFMPEGX
- pmp_muxer_1_0_2_source folder
- PMP Mod v1.02 (works only on FW 1.0 und 1.5)

Here's a great tutorial on how to create PMP on your oh-so-lovely MAC OSX..follow the instructions until you get to the part where you need to use your Terminal window then:

Take the files out of the pmp_muxer and have them on desktop (make sure you have your Video.avi and your Audio.mp3 also on your desktop)

The thing that Mastamind failed to mention for us not-so-tech-inclined (i.e. non-nerdy people) is we need to type "cd Desktop" in the terminal (copy and paste, it's case sensitive) then hit Enter. Now u can copy "perl pmp_muxer.pl Video.avi Audio.mp3 weltraum.pmp" then hit Enter again. It will take a few seconds until it says "status OK" at this point there should be a file on your desktop called "weltraum.pmp and thats it!

This is what you'll need for streaming:

- pmp_mod1.02-M4g3_bin

- Python

1. Edit the pmp.ini file in your PMPMOD_M4g3 folder then save.

2. Copy both folder in your PSP/GAME(PMPMOD_M4g3 and PMPMOD_M4g3%)

3. Start your server using Python Launcher

4. Look for "ROOT=" this is where you should type the location of your pmp ex. ROOT=/Users/psponmac/Desktop

5. Now start up your PMPMOD on your PSP and your done!

Let me know if this helps or you need some further instruction feel free to ask.

Good luck

Linky :-D - July 4th edition

Jeff Nolan over at Venture Chronicles linked us in his very compelling post about Sony's suicidal tendencies. We agree fully with his stance on Sony's missteps in regards to the PSP and their inability to conceive the concept of flexibility. He puts it much more eloquently, of course, but we appreciate the linkage Jeff, hopefully someone will listen.

In other news we're compiling a 'Wish List' of programs we feel should be moved over to the Mac platform and additions to already existing Mac programs. If you have any ideas please email us and give us your input.

Enjoy the Holiday and folks remember: Firearms are NOT Fireworks!

Thanks :-D

Patience

We here at psponmac have patience, so much so that we've achieved perfection multiple times only to demote ourselves simply to extend the virtue of our patience. With that being said we, of course, patiently waited with a 1.5 firmwire while others spoke of web browsers, RSS and LocationFree.... One could say that people who upgraded shouldn't be allowed in our utopia, but since we hold 'nary a grudge (being perfect and all) we welcome you to our utopia.

You simply need a 2.5 or 2.6 firmwire and the GTA UMD and your in. Oh! We have but one rule here: Please don't feed the pink unicorns after 8pm.

Thank you.

Must Haves for 1.5 users:

1. devhook041d: 2,5 emulator (if u need help with this just let us know we can de-nerdify it for you)

2. Links2 r1195: this is a stand alone browser (the hands down best browser 4 your PSP if your spinelessness won't allow you to give DevHook a try.)

3. AFKIM v2: an instant messenger for almost all the major IM protocols (including AIM, ICQ, MSN, Google Talk and Yahoo! still one of my favorite give it a try..)

4. Amaryllis: PSP ad-hoc network for games that lack infrastructure gaming (basically your be playing all your ad-hoc games online with your friends and its FREE!!!!)

5. PSPRadio: Online Radio on your PSP, for the radio types (it lets you to stream music and listen to Shoutcast servers, like WIFI Radio, from the your PSP.)

6. PMP VLC: VLC player for your PSP (It will also let you stream video from your mac using VLC-8.5. It works, but not that perfectly yet but we'll keep you up to date with the future versions)

7. Coverbuddy: Control itunes with your PSP browser (this will ensure that you don't have to move more than 3 inches at a time because like you we too are lazy ass bastards :-D

If you need a little help feel free to leave a comment or email us a psponmac AT gmail dot com.

A reminder: To ensure that everyone gets the most out of this blog we would like to remind you that the more we work together the more we'll all get out of this experience so please remember to email us at psponmac AT gmail dot com. Please include the name you would like to be thanked on and we're all peachy :-D We also plan to have a wish list which will allow us to keep a running tab on non mac programs, and additions to already existing programs, which we effin' wish we could have or improve. If you have ideas please feel free to email us and let us know.

Thanks in advance.
